• Body as Resource: Bioenergetics & Dynamic Presence
    with Alycia Zollinger

We all have the capacity to get to know our nervous system, our breath, our energy, and our patterns of thinking and being. This series will offer opportunities to delve more deeply into your dynamic Self to cultivate energetic awareness, healing, and transformation within the container of an inclusive and compassionately held space.

In this series we will explore the underpinnings of how we use or block our own energy, as well as tools to regulate your nervous system and discern real needs in challenging and blissful moments. Weaving through Bioenergetics, yoga, movement, and breathwork, we will empower personal resources to track patterns of thinking, being and interacting with the world; transmuting triggers, sensitivities, and wounds into fertile ground for personal growth.

  • Yoga Nidra
    with Julie Miller

Yoga Nidra is a method of guided relaxation that has a profound effect on the body, mind, and emotions. During the practice, you will lie in a comfortable position where you can remain awake and relaxed. You will be guided through various stages of deeper relaxation as you focus your attention inward.
During Yoga Nidra, you will enter the state between wakefulness and dreaming - a state which we usually only experience as we nod off to sleep. The effect on the mind can be very powerful, because as the mind becomes more relaxed, it also becomes more receptive.
This practice can aid in memory retention, reduce stress, and enhance both your intuition and creativity. It can help you to solve problems, rejuvenate your body and mind, and enhance and balance your energy.

  • Astrology 101
    with Julie Miller
    Astrology 101
Are you curious about astrology but not sure where to go beyond reading about your sun sign? Our goal is to create a fun and interactive class that will introduce tools for reading your personal chart and allow you to dive deeper on your own. Each individual chart, created at the moment of birth, conveys many layers of meaning and facets of personality. We will look at the different influences of the sun, moon, and rising sign and go over the meaning of the houses (how the chart is divided into life categories such as health, love, career, etc.). If time permits, and depending on class interest, we'll also touch on the meaning of each planet and how their placement affects your chart. For working with astrology on a daily basis, we will discuss tracking the cycling moon and how to note what it activates in the different parts of your chart.
Please use a free online program to print your chart and bring it to class. We like astro.com but there are many others. The time of your birth is critical for accurate chart details. This information can be found on your birth certificate.

  • Mindfulness for Stress Reduction and Well-Being

This 6-week experiential class series is based on Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), a course on mindfulness practice and stress reduction developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the UMass Medical School in 1979. It is the oldest and most studied mindfulness curriculum for general improvements in health and well-being. The technique was originally developed for use in hospitals with patients suffering from painful, chronic, or disabling conditions. It was found that following participation in an MBSR program, participants' levels of anxiety and depression decreased and their sense of well-being increased. Extensive research has shown that the Stress Reduction Program can be beneficial for anyone, regardless of state of health. It is a course that helps participants draw on their own inner resources and actively engage in caring for themselves and finding greater balance, ease, and peace of mind.

  • Rejuvenate with Ayurveda and Yoga
    Rejuvenate with Ayurveda and Yoga!

Yoga and Ayurveda are ancient sciences of wellness. Yoga focuses on physical exercise, breath and meditation, while Ayurveda focuses on nutrition and daily routines to maintain health and vitality. Practiced together, they help balance our energy, improve strength and flexibility and maintain a focused and calm mind. Practicing Ayurveda and Yoga regularly increases our body awareness and deepens our connection to the seasons and our place on Earth. Each person has a primary constitution (prakruti) which can change over time and manifest as our current state (vikruti).

The branch of Ayurveda focused on longevity is known as rejuvenation (rasayana). As we age, we move through three life stages: youth (Kapha), adulthood (Pitta), and elderhood (Vata). As Vata energy rises, skin and hair can become dry, joints stiff and achy, digestion erratic, and thoughts scattered. Following an Ayurvedic lifestyle includes daily routines, with adjustments as we age. And as we attain elderhood, we should choose a gentler Yoga practice with more focus on pranayama and meditation.

In this workshop, learn about Ayurveda's unique approach to longevity, including rasayana therapies to promote health, vitality and support the immune system. We will discuss several rasayana herbs and how to integrate them into your health regime. The workshop will conclude with a one hour Yoga practice designed to restore and rejuvenate at any age.

    Date: Saturday, march 14th
    Time: 1 - 4 pm
